Race, Identity & Privilege in Media

June 19, 2007 - 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

New Page 1

While many industries are doing more to reflect the diverse voices and blended backgrounds of their respective workforces, deficient representation within media has lead to inaccurate yet predictable racial and ethnic stereotypes within and beyond the cover.  Coupled with the stigmas of class and privilege, media is challenged with how to identify, define, and contrast multiplicities within the workplace and among its consumers. This Town Hall will offer you an opportunity to challenge your sensitivities and assumptions about the role race, identity and privilege play in media.
