The Magazine Digital Initiative Database was established in 2005 to track the wave of digital activity and innovation emerging from member publishers of MPA. The database tracks initiatives by MPA member magazine brands across all digital media and organizes the announcements by date and magazine title or publisher where appropriate. Where available, descriptions of the digital initiatives link to press releases or corroborating media coverage for more information.

Blogs Branded Content (Exclusive digital content); Cross Platform, Multiplatform, Multimedia Photo (Online gallery); Video ESPN has launched a “corporate” blog called ESPNFrontRow.com at http://frontrow.espn.go.com/ containing behind-the-scenes content from the television, print, web and mobile properties under the brand. Staffers around the world will be posting to the blog. The “Day in the Life” photo gallery of images taken hourly throughout a standard ESPN work day will accompany profiles of on-air personalities and clips from writers, editors and producers. Egg Dyeing 101, a 99 cent app at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/egg-dyeing-101-from-martha/id426486391?mt=8 for iPhone and iPod Touch is composed of 101 dyed egg images that also pop up as detailed instructions. Esquire / Hearst Magazines Apps (iPad); Audio (mp3); Cross Platform, Multiplatform, Multimedia E-Commerce Video Esquire’s May fashion portfolio for the ipad selected five musicians to participate in a songwriting competition for Detroit, to encourage the economic revival of the city. The phrase, "Last night in Detroit," was used as a baisis to create a song. Each of the songs will be sold via iTunes and the proceeds will go to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Detroit.
